The cohort model

Learning is stronger when relationships last.

The 2026–27 group begins in grades 3–6 and advances together year after year, building trust, momentum, and shared responsibility.

How it works

Small by design. Serious by choice.

Mixed-age, individually placed

Students learn together as a community while academic work is matched to readiness. A student’s placement is guided by what they know, what they are ready to learn next, and the habits needed to make progress.

The same students advance together

This year’s cohort begins with grades 3–6. Next year, the same students move forward as grades 4–7, continuing until they enter grades 8–9. That continuity gives teachers a deeper understanding of each learner and gives students a stable community in which to grow.

Learning beyond the classroom

Focused academics are joined by art, robotics, student enterprises, sports, cooking, literature, local history, and outdoor experiences such as hiking, skiing, kayaking, and climbing.

Parents are part of the work

Families stay responsive to school communication, support routines and assignments at home, and help occasionally with projects, travel, or school needs.

Character is an enrollment expectation

Students are expected to be kind, participate, complete their schoolwork, and want to learn. The school works with families when concerns arise; repeated bullying, refusal to work, or unwillingness to participate may result in dismissal.

Honest support conversations

Zion Academy welcomes every family to apply. We are a small general-education program and do not have on-site special-education specialists or therapy services. During admissions, families and the school discuss what support a student needs and whether we can responsibly provide it.
