As we step into the final month of this school year, our classroom is buzzing with activity, learning, and lots of excitement. Here's a glimpse of the latest happenings:
Picture Day and Geocaching Adventure
A big thank you to Mrs. Oler for her invaluable assistance on Picture Day! The eagerly awaited pictures will be making their way to you soon. In addition to the picture day fun, we embarked on a thrilling geocaching adventure at the Rockville Bridge. It took some time, but the excitement peaked when Ashlyn successfully discovered the hidden treasure.
An unexpected guest joined our adventure—a large lizard that brought an extra element of excitement. However, things took an unexpected turn when it decided to have Kian's finger for lunch! A memorable moment indeed!
Mathematical Marvels: Fractions, Division, and More
This week, our math lessons delved into various topics. The 6th graders tackled multiplying and dividing fractions, the 5th graders worked on dividing larger numbers, and the 4th graders explored factors and multiples. So many mathematical achievements in such a short time!
Creative Writing: Magic Lamp Stories and Fictional Short Stories
Our creative writing journey reached a milestone as we completed our Magic Lamp stories, inspired by three different pictures. The improvement in writing and organizational skills has been commendable. Now, we embark on our final writing assignment of the year—a fictional short story based on three pictures chosen by each student. Anticipation is high for the creativity that will unfold.
Spelling and Grammar Adventures: Adverb Clauses
In spelling and grammar, our focus this week centered around adverb clauses. The insights gained are proving invaluable in our ongoing writing projects, contributing to enhanced language proficiency.
Artistic Explorations: Illuminated Manuscripts
Art class continued to be a space for creativity as we worked diligently on our illuminated manuscripts. Perfecting the paint and maneuvering small brushes brought a new level of artistic experience to our students.
Scientific Discoveries: Expanding Gases
In science, we delved into the fascinating world of expanding gases. Experimenting with heat and a candle, we witnessed the intriguing defiance of gravity as water played its part. Science continues to be a source of wonder and discovery.
