A Week of Learning Adventures at Zion Academy!

It's been an exciting week at our school as we've welcomed three fantastic new students – Ashlyn, Kian, and Jaxon. The integration process has been seamless, with everyone embracing the joy and energy that comes with more friends in our community. Together, we've been focusing on patience and rule-following to ensure a positive learning environment.

Science Marvels: In our science classes, we delved into the mysteries of the changing seasons and the celestial wonders above. Building a constellation guide and creating our very own universe in a box added a hands-on dimension to our learning. Hopefully, our students took the opportunity to gaze at the night sky and appreciate the beauty of the stars.

Literary Adventures: The pages of our reading adventures unfolded with Almanzo and the kids learning essential life skills – taking care of themselves when their parents are away. From indulging in all the sugar to leaving chores until the last day, the escapades struck a chord with all of us.

Robotic Engineering Excitement: In the robotics lab, we had a blast knocking down buildings while learning about tectonic plates and earthquakes. Our students constructed earthquake machines and designed buildings to test their resilience. Check out the attached picture for a glimpse into the excitement!

Historical and Creative Writing Journeys: Our history and writing classes embarked on a captivating journey into the Arthurian legend of the sword in the stone. Crafting outlines, sharing our

legendary tales, and mastering the art of strong verbs enriched our storytelling skills. The use of "because clauses" added depth and intrigue to our narratives.

Math Mastery and Challenges: Fractions took center stage in our math lessons this week, along with explorations into area and perimeter. Despite the inevitable sighs that come with tackling more complex problems, our students are mastering the challenges. With the new additions settling in, we're poised to advance further with our Singapore math curriculum.

Reading Aloud: A Daily Ritual: A friendly reminder from Mr. Arnold – encourage everyone to read aloud for at least 15 minutes every day. This simple yet powerful practice contributes to improved reading and comprehension skills, as well as the development of oratory skills.

Wishing You a Wonderful Weekend: As we wrap up this eventful week, we wish all our students, parents, and staff a fantastic weekend ahead. If you have any questions or want to share your child's experiences, feel free to reach out to the teacher (Tim) at 818-292-2828 or tim.arnold@zion.academy.

Here's to another week of learning, growth, and memorable moments at Zion Academy!

Warm regards,

The teacher (Tim)
